We understand it can be difficult to think of the everlasting words for a memorial, so our team will help you find the right words, and give you advice to ensure the inscription will fit. We will also advise you on the best colour font for your chosen material, and take-into-account how much room may need to be left for additional inscriptions in the future.
Most inscriptions will start with a heading, such as ‘In loving memory of’, and will include the deceased’s name; their dates of birth and death, or date of death and age; a line of information, i.e. A Dear Wife, Mum & Nannan, and they may finish with a short verse, such as ‘Forever in our hearts’. However, there are no exact rules, so you have the option to simplify the inscription, or add more; but please remember, your chosen inscription will need to be approved by the relevant cemetery or church, so the inscription cannot include any potentially offensive language.
From traditional hand-carved lettering to computer generated sandblast inscriptions, Freeman Daynes has more than 40-years experience to give you peace of mind.
Should an existing memorial need removing to allow for a grave to be re-opened, you can either instruct us yourself, or ask the funeral director to contact us, so we can arrange to bring the memorial into our care. After the funeral has taken place, we will contact you to discuss the next steps to add the additional inscription, and in due course re-fix the memorial.
At your convenience, our team would be happy to discuss the next steps by phone, email or by visiting one of our premises.
